Although the history books seldom tell you so, the Pilgrims first landed at what is now Provincetown Harbor, and not Plymouth on the other side of Cape Cod Bay. And years ago, the Pilgrim Tower was built to celebrate that fact - high on a hill overlooking the village below. It's always lighted like this at night, but I thought it looked especially dramatic on this particular night against a backdrop of fading storm clouds as the last rays from the evening's sunset turned some of the white eaves of houses below it a brilliant orange.
